A Circus in the Round Russian Painters
Leonid A. Sokolov

Leonid Alexeevich Sokolov was born in 1945 into a St. Petersburg family with a long history in the arts. His grandfather was one of the founders of the St. Petersburg Society of Encouragement of Artists (now the Artists' Union). His father, Alexei Sokolov, a Finley Collection artist, is an outstanding painter with works in major museums throughout Russia and Europe. His mother is a historian of theatrical arts. His wife, Galina, is the art historian at the Theatrical Museum of St. Petersburg, and Sokolov's son is studying to be an artist.
